Chi Cao from Mao's Last Dancer Early work 2008

First actual celebrity I ever drew, Chi Cao from the movie Mao's Last Dancer, sat for me when I was first starting out. My first brush with international fame, a nice guy too.

Then and Now Biz Card Mascot Designs Ed Dyer 2008-2012

This was the original design for my business card and the mascots for my caricaturing business,  basically what I wanted to encapsulate here was the Wild Mouse roller coaster experience and the 2 main reactions to my work. There's also more subtle and sublime references to the old comedy and tragedy symbols of the theatre, Luna Park itself and the controlled chaos of it.

In this updated version my work has come a long way from the more conservative and nervous line work of  previous incarnations. I wanted the look to have a maturity and an eccentric energy to it, better reflecting the kind of caricatures I now create.
