Dr. Eve, Mutant Laboratories: A Fallout DLC Concept Art Piece

 Fallout

Playing around with some concept art and pin up ideas the inspiration for this one came from the patches included with Fallout 4. Being a fan of the original Fallout game (the top down isometric platform game with turn based movement and combat based on virtual dice rolls) the whole idea of mutations, birth defects caused by radiation exposure and genetic splicing to create a race of super soldiers was essentially the main story line of the game. So I figured I'd take it one step further, the basic premise being much like the Wasteland Workshop DLC's this would focus on creating monsters, capturing test subjects, fighting them in arenas or using them in raids (or even helping out around the settlement) as I no longer have the spare time to devote to the lifestyle of anything beyond the casual gamer, I figured this idea (while cool) wasn't something I could pursue for now.

Life Hacks for the Illustrator

Back up everything, and I mean everything. This caught me off guard as though I've invested in some sturdy, reliable external hard disks the humble USB drive is also a bit of a worry.

They're cheap to make and therefore, cheap to break. Not to mention lose and corrupt your files. Spending a little bit extra on a more trusted brand name is the better way to go I've found, however NOTHING WORKS BETTER THAN SAVING IT TO A HARD DRIVE.

The only surviving version of this fan art piece I call Calvina and Hubbz.

The original picture was lost when the file it was saved as scrambled the data like an egg in a paint shaker however I took a progress glamour shot of my laptop screen with my phone- little did I realise it would be like that last fateful photo before disaster struck.

I normally never draw straight up digitally, there's almost always a hard copy on paper laying around which is scanned and worked directly from. This time was not the case.

MURPHY'S LAW: If it can go wrong, it will go wrong.

This can be applied to every aspect of life, and it helps to be somewhat zen about it but experiments are what they are.

No prize for what this is.

In the years prior to not only the introduction of the iphone but the app Draw Something there was a little illustration project that made it to the concept phase but unfortunately not much further. This is one of the examples of how a great idea can be put on hold. Indefinitely.
Ah well I still had fun with it.
