First Convention of 2021: Back to the old Drawing Board

It was a decent hiatus, but it's even better to be back. My bookings are all ready to go and I'm going to be drawing live again for events at upcoming dates and locations around the country.

 

I don't post often, but when I do it's because I'm announcing a weekend trip.

Once again it's convention time will be at the artist alley drawing and having a jolly good time, if you're in Brisbane and heading to Oz Comic Con drop in an say hi.

Comic Gong 2014

 It's not everyday I do a free to play convention, but it was most definitely a nice change of pace compared to the massive scale cons I have artist alley tables at. Though held in a far smaller location, with a much shorter running time it was a nice day trip down to Wollongong with my fellow caricaturist collaborator and comic book artist mate Josh Spencer.

Drew a few caricatures too.

Some fantastic cosplay as always on show and I love being able to sell prints of my fan art pieces.

 Funnily enough we thought we had missed "Free Comic Book Day" (the unofficial holiday of geeks everywhere) as we had a gig on May the 3rd and couldn't make the queues, also it was a fiercely cold and windy day. But fate, it seemed shined upon us as Kings Comics appeared to have a few left over and put them in with the Comic Gong show bags.

Been a tad busy of late, getting prepped and ready for the next series of conventions, haven't abandoned the ol' blog but some cool stuff is on its way.

SNOVA Gold Coast 2014

Possibly the most accurate to the comic book source material Tank Girl I've ever encountered. 

And so another year of conventions begins rather nicely with our first time up in the Gold Coast, which, not to put too finer point on it, was bloody special. Loads of fun excellent cosplay and super laid back, like seriously.

I guess this is what a "near death experience" must be like...

Aww, you guys!

The next one shall be tricky to beat I think.

A super detailed Majora's Mask 

Assassin's Creed/Green Lantern, flawless crossover (the ring is coated with reflective material that reacts to flash)

All completely homemade, I resolved to take cosplay slightly more serious than just wearing the superhero logo t-shirt.

ISCA Con 2013

My wall space at the con, my competition number 129.

Not only was it my first convention purely for caricatures, but it marked my first international trip. I figured if I was gonna go anywhere, it'd be someplace where I'd be able to get some work done too :)
Held at the Tradewinds Island Resort, I had an awesome time, made some friends and learnt a whole lot about the trade, the craft and the competition, plus some pretty invaluable tips about long haul flights too.
