Dr. Eve, Mutant Laboratories: A Fallout DLC Concept Art Piece

 Fallout

Playing around with some concept art and pin up ideas the inspiration for this one came from the patches included with Fallout 4. Being a fan of the original Fallout game (the top down isometric platform game with turn based movement and combat based on virtual dice rolls) the whole idea of mutations, birth defects caused by radiation exposure and genetic splicing to create a race of super soldiers was essentially the main story line of the game. So I figured I'd take it one step further, the basic premise being much like the Wasteland Workshop DLC's this would focus on creating monsters, capturing test subjects, fighting them in arenas or using them in raids (or even helping out around the settlement) as I no longer have the spare time to devote to the lifestyle of anything beyond the casual gamer, I figured this idea (while cool) wasn't something I could pursue for now.

Back from Beyond... 2020

Yes it really has been that long since I last posted anything here, turns out life really does get in the way and, as one Mr. Ferris Bueller once pointed out, moves pretty fast.

What's been going on during the long blogger hiatus?

I've left Luna Park, grown a sweet beard, began teaching myself piano (and at some point the violin) started devouring audio-books and currently am looking forward to the second half of 2020 being truly awesome...

Because it is indeed an election year.

Now living in Australia, a country which up until communist sympathizer and all around wolf in sheep's clothing Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews dropped the corona virus ball, was relatively COVID-19 free watching the events unfolding and leading up to the greatest U.S election in my lifetime has been one of guarded joy and celebration on the slow cooker.

Anything can happen.

But I am remaining eternally positive, which is why, ironically, I'm reopening the old Blog and getting pack into posting here...

Well that and I recently Googled myself and my work, I need to step up my social media game!

Long time no see, guess I've been a tad busy...First Post of 2016

So, what have I been up to all this time? Mostly just riding a wave of incoming work much like opening up a wardrobe full of ping pong balls, an analogy I've probably used before as an excuse but honestly since I haven't updated this blog since September 2015 I can't account for it... While it'd be awesome to have it something like this...

It's more like this
So it's an election year, the worlds most powerful country is picking it's leader and it's every but as crazy as it's ever been, so what better than to begin this year's posting cycle with a digital caricature, as drawn lovingly on my new(ish) iPad pro (will be doing a video about it soon)  But the main comparison I drew was Donald J. Trump and Dragon Ball Z, both are:

  • Hilarious and exciting to watch and have been around way longer than most people realise/would care to admit.
  • Just when you think the bad guy has won the "David vs Goliath protocol" switch is thrown and the story ends with an insane fireworks display.
  • Both seem to have massive fan bases despite an overall lack of substance.
  •  It's all about machismo, yelling and psychotic hair.

I don't post often, but when I do it's because I'm announcing a weekend trip.

Once again it's convention time will be at the artist alley drawing and having a jolly good time, if you're in Brisbane and heading to Oz Comic Con drop in an say hi.

August catch up...

Well it has been a while since I posted anything here, this year has for the most part been busy and it's been job after job. I guess busy is as busy does:
So as a personal challenge and a studio job had popped up I decided to do an exercise in drawing something other than caricatures and give digital painting

Vicki Curlz the Hipster Girl

The Lighning Wyrm, a concept piece I came up with based loosely on a pet axolotl I have.

Aladdin fan art... R.I.P Robin Williams

Stylised realistic tiger, I ran out of time so I threw the "cut out" filter over the top and called it a day.

I would consider myself a pro, and by "pro" I mean owner of a significantly fancier iPad

As part of a previously mentioned purchase/s I decided to take care of a much needed tech upgrade, basically my old Wacom Cintiq (the workhorse of the last few years) finally gave up the ghost, which is a fancy way of the power cord broke and I couldn't find a place to fix it for me. So I set my sights on a small big ticket item... So to speak.
